Join George Parros in the fight against cancer by donating your hair for the Second Annual George Parros Cut for the Kids on Monday, January 5, 2009, 3:30pm – 6:30pm, at the ESPN Zone at Downtown Disney to benefit the Childhood Leukemia Foundation (CLF).

The CLF is a national non-profit organization that offers a wide range of services at no charge to children living with cancer and their families as well as provides thousands of custom made, 100% human hair wigs with kid-friendly hats (Hugs-U-Wear) to children around the country.

Since the start of his professional career, Parros has been growing his hair long so he can donate it to nonprofits that provide children with wigs to help in their fight against cancer.  Don’t miss your chance to join George Parros’s fight to help children get the Hugs-U-Wear.

Professional hairstylists from SportClips will be on hand volunteering to create a championship haircut experience.  Each participant will meet George Parros and receive a special gift.  A limited number of spots are available to participate in the George Parros Cut for the Kids and will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.  

Also, don’t miss your chance to meet George Parros who will available at the Cut for the Kids for pictures and autographs for a $10 donation.  All proceeds will benefit the Childhood Leukemia Foundation.

Childhood Leukemia Foundation Hugs-U-Wear Donation Guidelines:

• 12 inches measured tip to tip is the minimum length needed for a hairpiece.
• Curly hair may be pulled straight to measure the minimum 12 inches.
• Hair must be chemically untreated from permanents or hair dye.
• Hair swept off the floor is unusable.
• Gray hair is no accepted as it is not suitable for children
• We cannot accept dreadlocks. The manufacturer is not able to use them in our children’s hairpieces. We also cannot accept wigs, falls, hair extensions or synthetic hair.

The men’s and women’s shot put exhibitions will each be preceded by a heavy beanbag put featuring some young members of the Orange County Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization.  2008 Women’s Olympic Discus Champion, Stephanie Brown-Trafton, will also be in attendance signing autographs and giving spectators an up-close look at her Olympic gold medal.  

About the 1st Annual National Throws Summit - The Elite Shot Put Exhibition is part of the inaugural National Throws Summit which is being held at the Anaheim Convention Center on Saturday-Sunday, January 3-4.  The Summit is being hosted by VS Athletics in cooperation with Disney Sports.  The mission of the Throws Summit is to promote the development of the throwing events—shot put, discus, javelin and hammer/weight—from the novice to the elite levels.  The summit will seek to do that with a two-tract curriculum on Saturday: a clinic for coaches and athlete practice sessions, both taught by some of America’s leading throw gurus and Olympic level throwers. Sunday’s program will include USATF-sanctioned indoor men’s and women’s competitions in the shot put and weight throw inside the Convention Center starting at 11:00am. 

Featured keynote speakers for the Coaches Clinic include University of Georgia throws coach, Don Babbitt, former Russian National Throws Coach and Olympic champion Dr. Anatoly Bondarchuk, four-time Olympian and former world record holder Mac Wilkins, and one of Southern California’s premier throws coaches, Tony Ciarelli.  Athlete practice instructors include Stephanie Brown-Trafton, Larry Judge, Hank Kraychir, Romona Pagel, Karin Smith, and Jason & Lieja Tunks.

Thirteen-year old cancer patient Lawrance Garcia had his wish granted at ESPN Zone. Thanks to non-profit organization, Grants Wishes, Lawrance got to meet his hero, pro-skateboarder, Rob Dyrdek. Lawrance had time to ask Rob questions before they headed up to the Sports Arena to play games.
