In an anniversary year for X Games, ESPN will celebrate with 200 athletes and welcome the biggest names in action sports as well as debut two new disciplines at X Games 15 – Skateboard Big Air Rail Jam and Skateboard Park Legends. The 15th annual action sports competition will be held in Los Angeles July 30 – Aug. 2, 2009 at STAPLES Center and The Home Depot Center, and will feature the world’s best athletes competing in: BMX Freestyle, Moto X, Skateboard and Rally Car Racing.

At STAPLES Center, BMX and Skateboard Big Air, Moto X Best Trick and Step Up will be featured. The Home Depot Center will house X Fest, the ultimate action sports festival featuring sponsor & industry booths, interactive parks, athlete appearances and demos. Competitions held at The Home Depot Center will include BMX and Skateboard Vert, Moto X Men’s and Women’s Super X, Moto X Freestyle, Moto X SuperMoto, Skateboard and BMX Park and Rally Car Racing.

Live X Games programming on ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC – all showcased in high definition – will air July 30 – August 2. ESPN International, ESPN Deportes, ESPN.com/Action.com, ESPN360.com, SportsCenter and ESPN2’s X Center will also provide coverage.

Thirteen-year old cancer patient Lawrance Garcia had his wish granted at ESPN Zone. Thanks to non-profit organization, Grants Wishes, Lawrance got to meet his hero, pro-skateboarder, Rob Dyrdek. Lawrance had time to ask Rob questions before they headed up to the Sports Arena to play games.
