2010 ESPN Zone Ultimate Couch Potato Winners

Chicago:

Congratulations to Jeff Miller, a 26-year-old real estate business owner from Chicago! Jeff won his third Ultimate Couch Potato title on Monday, Jan. 4 by outlasting 32-year-old Chicago warehouse supervisor Juan Hernandez, who fell asleep at 4:21 a.m. CT Monday morning. Miller went on to set an unofficial Guinness World Record and ESPN Zone record by sitting 72 hours, beating Guinness title holder Suresh Joachim's 2005 time of 69 hours, 48 minutes and Jessica Mosley's record 2009 Ultimate Couch Potato time of 70 hours, 45 seconds. He finished his epic feat at 10 a.m. CT Monday morning; exactly three days after the competition began on New Year's Day.

New York:

Congratulations to Jorge Cruz, a 26-year-old public affairs assistant from Washington Heights, N.Y.! Jorge won New York's Ultimate Couch Potato competition with a winning time of 48 hours, 15 minutes and one second. He overthrew two-time champion Stan Friedman at hour 41 and finally beat Queens, N.Y., runner-up Kendra Scheer, 26, who tapped out at 45 hours, five minutes and one second on Sunday.

Baltimore:

Congratulations to Jessica Mosley, a 27-year-old education coordinator from Arlington, Va.! Jessica won Baltimore's Ultimate Couch Potato competition for the second year in a row by sitting for 32 hours, 59 minutes and 14 seconds. She outlasted 30-year-old TV producer Chris Dachille from Timonium, Md., who raised the white flag on Saturday evening.

ESPN Zone’s annual “Ultimate Couch Potato” contest will take place at the New York, Chicago, and Baltimore ESPN Zones, where four competitors at each location will buckle down to find out who can watch the most continuous hours of televised sports. The contest, which originated in Chicago eight years ago, expanded to New York two years ago and to Baltimore last year.

How to Enter

Entries will be accepted November 9, 2009 – December 9, 2009.

To enter ESPN Zone’s Ultimate Couch Potato competition, please send an e-mail to couchpotato@espnzone.com, and in 200 words or less, describe why you have what it takes to become ESPN Zone’s Ultimate Couch Potato. In the subject line of your entry, please note what location you wish to enter: Chicago, New York or Baltimore.

Entries will be judged on passion for sports, competitive spirit and overall creativity. Each entry must include: your full name; age (you must be over 18); day, evening and cell numbers; e-mail address and mailing address; and be received no later than 11:59 p.m. (ET) on December 9, 2009.

Prizes

Each winner will each receive a grand prize package worth more than $4,000, which includes a customized XZipit™ recliner, a $1,000 gift certificate to Best Buy to purchase their own HDTV, one year of free cable or satellite television, $1,000 in gift certificates and game cards to ESPN Zone and, of course, the "Ultimate Couch Potato" champion's trophy featuring a real live spud.
